Who is the Lynx?

The Lynx is the fastest ground combat vehicle in the game. It is built for rapid attacks, scouting, and raids on the enemy economy. Its high speed lets it move quickly between bases, find undefended areas, and reach Workers.

Area damage and a +100% damage bonus against Peacemakers make the Lynx especially dangerous against groups of light infantry. A large Lynx group gains an advantage against small armies, while damaged vehicles can retreat to Workers for repairs.

The Lynx attacks only ground targets and performs very poorly against Tanks, Titans, and Devastators. With the same attack range of 5, the Peacemaker still starts firing from farther away because the units have different sizes, so the Lynx must move closer to return fire.

Strengths

  • A large Lynx group gains an advantage against small armies through mobility. Damaged vehicles can retreat to Workers for repairs.
  • Especially effective against the Peacemaker: deals 100% more damage to it.
  • Its area attack can damage several enemy units at once.
  • Its high speed makes it excellent at scouting the map.
  • Hard to kill in the early stages of the game because of its speed advantage.

Weaknesses

  • The Lynx can only attack ground targets.
  • Performs very poorly against Tanks, Titans, and Devastators.
  • Has a relatively short firing range compared to other units.

Strategies

Below are three Lynx-based early-game strategies.

Strategy 1. Two-Factory attack

Note: this strategy is mainly effective at ratings below 1800 or in 2v2 matches.

  1. Ordering two Workers to mine ore in Honest WarProduce two Workers to improve ore harvesting.
  2. A Worker builds a Reactor at 10 ore in Honest WarAs soon as you have 10 ore, build a Reactor.
  3. Building a Barracks and ordering three more Workers in Honest WarAt 12 ore, begin building a Barracks. While it is under construction, produce three more Workers as ore becomes available.
  4. The second Factory hidden away from the main base in Honest WarOnce the Barracks is complete, immediately build two Factories. Try to hide the second Factory away from the main base so the opponent does not discover your plan at once.
  5. The first Lynx scouting the enemy base in Honest WarSend one Lynx to scout.
  6. A Lynx army attacking the enemy base in Honest WarAfter scouting, build up your army and attack. Pull damaged Lynxes back and repair them with a Worker.

Strategy 2. Fast Factory at the opponent’s base

Note: this strategy is effective only on maps where the starting positions are far apart.

  1. The second Worker heading to the opponent's base in Honest WarProduce two Workers, but send the second one to the opponent’s base. Use this opening only when you already know its location.
  2. Building a Barracks at your own base in Honest WarWhen you have 12 ore, build a Barracks at your base.
  3. A Factory under construction at the enemy base in Honest WarAs soon as the Barracks is complete, build a Factory at the opponent’s base.
  4. Building a Reactor at your own base in Honest WarBuild a Reactor at your base.
  5. The Factory at the enemy base producing the first Lynx in Honest WarAs soon as the Worker completes the Factory, produce a Lynx.

Strategy 3. Gaining an advantage with several fast Lynxes

  1. Ordering two Workers at the start of the fast Lynx strategy in Honest WarProduce two Workers to improve ore harvesting.
  2. Building a Barracks at 12 ore in Honest WarAs soon as you have 12 ore, build a Barracks.
  3. A Reactor added while the Barracks is under construction in Honest WarBuild a Reactor while the Barracks is under construction.
  4. A Factory added right after the Barracks is finished in Honest WarBuild a Factory as soon as the Barracks is complete.
  5. Ordering the first Lynx and building an additional Reactor in Honest WarProduce two more Workers while the Factory is under construction. Once it is complete, produce one Lynx and start building an additional Reactor.
  6. A Lynx leaving to scout while a Gate is being built in Honest WarSend the newly produced Lynx to scout and build a Gate at the same time.
  7. Producing several Lynxes and a third Reactor at the base in Honest WarOnce the Reactor is complete, produce two to four Lynxes to attack the opponent’s economy. Build a third Reactor while producing the army.
  8. Newly produced Lynxes moving out to attack the enemy base in Honest WarAttack the opponent’s base when all the Lynxes are ready.

Lynx chevrons: what they are and how they work

Chevrons are curved stripes shown above the unit. They have three levels:

  1. +10% health and damage
  2. +20% health and damage
  3. +30% health and damage + regeneration

To earn one chevron, the Lynx must deal a certain amount of damage to enemy units.

Upgrades in the Factory

Each upgrade adds 10% of base damage or health to Factory units. The cost rises in sequence: 10, 20, and 30 ore.

Peacemakers + Lynxes

This composition combines Peacemakers and Lynxes at a ratio of roughly two Peacemakers per Lynx.

This tactic is effective on large maps with rich ore deposits. You must research and activate Overclock on the Peacemakers, and also research Shield.

The main counter to this composition is mass Lynx production.

Lynxes + air units

The composition includes Lynxes, Thunders, and Hawks. Adjust the number of Lynxes to the enemy Peacemaker count, use Thunders against heavy ground forces, and Hawks against aircraft. The composition works best on large maps.

The main counter to this army is a composition of Titans, Peacemakers with Shield, Waves, and Devastators.

What does the Lynx say?

FAQ

Who is the Lynx effective against?

The Lynx deals 100% more damage to Peacemakers and can hit several targets at once with its area attack, but performs very poorly against Tanks, Titans, and Devastators.

Can the Lynx attack air targets?

No, the Lynx attacks ground targets only, so Hawks must provide anti-air cover.

Which units pair well with the Lynx?

Two effective options are to pair each Lynx with roughly two Peacemakers, or to combine Lynxes with Thunders against heavy ground forces and Hawks for anti-air cover.

What bonuses do chevrons provide to the Lynx?

Each chevron increases base health and damage by 10%, and at three chevrons the unit also gains regeneration.
