Titan

The Titan is a heavy combat robot with homing missiles. It attacks ground and air targets and has enormous health and high damage, but moves slowly. Effective against Thunders, Lynxes, and Tanks in N.A.T.A.S.H.A. mode. Ineffective against Devastators. Produced in: Barracks. Requires: Laboratory.

Who is the Titan?

The Titan is a huge armored robot with homing missiles. It is a walking fortress: it moves slowly across the battlefield, absorbs enemy fire, and destroys both ground and air targets.

To use the Titan well, consider its role in the early, mid, and late game as well as the enemy composition.

Titan strengths

  • The highest base health among all units lets the Titan shield the rest of the army.
  • High damage and the ability to attack both ground and air targets make it a self-sufficient combat unit.
  • Destroys Tanks in N.A.T.A.S.H.A. mode and handles Lynxes well.
  • Early in the game, it can withstand Peacemakers without Shield and repel a small air attack.
  • Its attack range lets it fire at Workers from the far side of an ore deposit and halt ore harvesting.

Titan weaknesses

  • High cost and long production time: 20 ore, 4 energy, and 45 seconds. One Barracks is not enough for mass Titan production.
  • You can produce this unit only after building the Laboratory, which in turn requires a Barracks and a Factory.
  • Uses 4 energy, almost the entire output of one basic Reactor.
  • Low speed limits the Titan on large maps and makes it difficult to switch attack directions quickly.
  • Devastators deal 200% bonus damage to the Titan, while regular Tanks deal 75% bonus damage. Waves and large groups of Peacemakers are also dangerous.

The Titan at each stage of the game

  1. Early game. On a small or narrow map, the Titan can operate independently, pressure the economy, and defend the base. While it is being produced, close passages with Gates in advance to stop an early Lynx.
  2. Mid game. In a mixed army, the Titan stands at the front or center and absorbs damage. If the opponent has amassed Devastators and regular Tanks, keep the giant behind the main army.
  3. Late game. On large maps, low speed reduces its value, while mass production requires several Barracks and a strong economy. The Titan remains useful when defending the main base.

Attacking the economy

If the terrain allows it to reach the far side of an ore deposit, the Titan can fire at Workers from there. Early in the game, the opponent cannot remove such a giant quickly, so even a short attack can halt harvesting for a long time.

Positioning and healing

Early on, the Titan can usually operate on its own. In a mixed army, place it at the front or center to absorb damage, but keep it farther back against many Devastators and regular Tanks. Preserve a wounded Titan: a Balloon with Healing restores its health on board, while Workers cannot repair it.

When you have several Titans, healing them on board is significantly cheaper than producing replacements.

Titan chevrons: what they are and how they work

Chevrons are curved stripes shown above the unit. They have three levels:

  1. +10% health and damage
  2. +20% health and damage
  3. +30% health and damage + regeneration

To earn one chevron, the Titan must deal a certain amount of damage to enemy units.

Attack I and Armor I are worthwhile when much of the army comes from Barracks and the economy can support the extra expense. Level II upgrades are usually researched when Workers are actively delivering ore to two Centers, while level III upgrades belong in the late game if infantry remains the core of the army. The more active mining bases you have, the easier it is to fund the full upgrade set.

Mixed army

The Titan works well with Peacemakers, Waves, and Devastators: it absorbs damage while its allies disrupt enemy units and return fire.

If the opponent focuses on Tanks, Peacemakers, or Devastators, add Thunders and Lynxes. A useful rule is one Lynx per three or four enemy Peacemakers.

Titan group

Several Titans can operate independently on small and medium maps if the opponent has not amassed Devastators, regular Tanks, or Waves.

Against Peacemakers without Shield, a rough rule is no more than three Peacemakers per Titan. Continuous production requires several Barracks because a single Barracks cannot replenish such an expensive army quickly enough.

Attack and fall back

The Titan’s attack range is shorter than the ranges of a Hawk and a Tank in N.A.T.A.S.H.A. mode, but it can still fire from behind the main army. Pull it back after each shot: the opponent must either stop chasing or advance through fire from the rest of your units.

Titan FAQ

Where is the Titan produced?

The Titan is produced in the Barracks, but it becomes available only after the Laboratory is built; the Laboratory itself requires a Factory.

What is the Titan vulnerable to?

It is most vulnerable to Devastators with their +200% bonus and to regular Tanks, which deal 75% bonus damage to Titans. The Tank bonus is disabled in N.A.T.A.S.H.A. mode. Waves and large groups of Peacemakers are also dangerous.

Can Workers repair the Titan?

No, Workers cannot repair the Titan. A Balloon can heal it after Healing has been researched in the Laboratory, quickly restoring the Titan’s health on board.

On which maps is the Titan strongest?

It is strong at every stage on small maps around 12×12 tiles and on narrow maps. On large maps, low speed is a drawback, but it remains useful for base defense.
